Introduction to Articles
Last updated October 8, 2026
Articles let you publish news, announcements, and stories on your website, then feature the most important ones where visitors will see them.
Why we call them articles
Most website builders call this a blog. But most businesses on Sovoli are not running a blog.
A school posts term dates and admissions deadlines. A beauty school announces its next intake. A farm shares what is in season. These are news and announcements, not opinion pieces.
Articles covers all of it. On your website, you choose what visitors see — News, Updates, Stories, or Blog.
How businesses use articles
- News — awards, results, new staff, new facilities
- Announcements — admissions open, term dates, closures, price changes
- Events — upcoming open days, recaps of graduations and sports days
- Stories — student and customer success stories, behind the scenes
- Guides — how to apply, what to bring, choosing the right program
Regular articles keep your website current. Families and customers can see you are active, and search engines have more pages to find you by.
Where articles appear
- Your articles page — every published article, newest first, at
/blogon your website - Each article's own page — with its cover image, date, and related articles
- Featured Articles section — a scrolling row of articles you can add to any page, such as your home page
- Search engines — published articles are added to your sitemap automatically
Feature your most important articles
Featuring an article pins it to the top of your articles page and the Featured Articles section.
- Feature up to 3 articles at a time
- The Featured Articles section shows featured articles first, then your latest, up to 5
- Unfeature an article when it is no longer current, such as after an admissions deadline passes
Example: a school home page
Morris Knibb adds a Featured Articles section to its home page titled “Latest from Morris Knibb”. Parents see admissions news and school updates without leaving the home page.
Add the Featured Articles section
- Open the page from the Website list in your dashboard.
- Add the Featured Articles section from the Content category.
- Edit the eyebrow, title, and text — for example News, Latest news.
- Press Publish.
If you have no published articles, the section stays hidden.
Drafts and publishing
Every article starts as a draft. Visitors only see an article after you publish it.
When you edit a published article, your changes are saved as a draft. The live article stays the same until you publish again.
